Disputable texts in the PPC are not productive and will have no effect: rightist

Sofia. President Georgi Parvanov's decision to veto the amendments to the Penal Procedure Code (PPC) supported our position, said chairperson of the Anti-Corruption, Conflict of Interests and Parliamentary Ethics Committee Dimo Gyarov (Blue Coalition) for FOCUS News Agency.
"The President's motives and arguments outlined in the veto were noted earlier by representatives of the Blue Coalition. We tried to give an advice to our colleagues from the party of Citizens for European Development for Bulgaria (CEDB) that on the one hand, those texts are not productive and on the other, there is an element of unconstitutionality. Moreover, they contradict to certain civil rights but what is most important is that they will not have the expected effect.
The Blue Coalition voted against the amendments to the Penal Procedure Code. We will vote the way we had voted before," Gyaurov said further.
In his words, the ordinances concerning the reserve defender will practically remain dead, and the theoretical possibility for the court to rule a verdict only on the basis of secondary evidence collected through anonymous witnesses and special intelligence means under other proceeding, will cause big problems as well, he added.
